10th Anniversary of the opening of the Astroturf – Thursday 15th July
At Small Heath School we will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Astroturf on Thursday 15th July 2010.
Y7 pupils and children from Somerville School will be taking part in a variety of sporting activities in the morning, between 10.00am and 12.30pm.
On the Astroturf at 1.45pm, all attendees will stand in designated areas to watch the Truck Pull, which will take place on the running track, at 2.00pm. At 2.45pm. The Red Devils free fall parachute display team will perform. This will be followed by a couple of short speeches and cake cutting

World Masters Discus Champion (and truck puller) Kevin Brown
Former World Triple Jump Champion, Ashia Hansen, MBE (who originally opened the facility in 2000)
World Champion Triple Jumper, Philips Idowu
Former British Olympic 400m athlete, Daniel Caines
Former Aston Villa and Wolves footballer, Tony Daley
Plus: several athletes competing at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi
We hope to be able to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice. You may be interested to know that around thirty percent of the children they support come from this part of Birmingham!
