Bordesley Village win Partnership Volleyball!

On Monday 22nd the NIA Community Hall hosted the Partnership Volleyball Finals. Four teams from Bordesley Village, Christ Church, and Stechford A & B played a round robin competition on two courts to decide who would be crowned Volleyball victors.

The tournament was run by Graham Fowler from Birmingham University Volleyball Club who led the teams in some skill drills at the start before the real competition began.

All three schools showed excellent skills, with two of Stechford B's team perhaps standing out as the best technical players there.

It went right down to the last game to decide the placings. Bordesley Village needed to beat Christ Church to keep a 100% record, while Stechford B needed to beat their school mates from Stechford A to have a chance of a play off with Bordesley Village should they lose to Christ Church.

Stechford B played some amazing volleyball to defeat their friends and they then had to wait and see what happened in the other game. Bordesley Village seemed to be cruising to a comfortable victory against Christ Church with a six point lead at 10-4 up when suddenly Christ Church stepped up a gear and made a come back.

10-4 turned into 13-13 and it looked like a play-off might be needed until Christ Church unluckily sliced a shot off court to give Bordesley Village a chance to win it. They showed great character to hold their nerve and win the deciding point for a 15-13 victory to give them the title and ensure Stechford B were runners up. Christ Church finished 3rd and Stechford A were a very valiant 4th.

Well done to all the teams (and their very supportive teachers!) for making it a very exciting competition and congratulations again to Bordesley Village for winning!
