Boccia Festival
On Friday 28th January 7 teams took part in the Calthorpe Partnership Boccia Festival. Boccia is a Paralympic sport that is a bit like bowls. It can be played by people of all abilities and is one of the most inclusive sports. The festival was held at Hodge Hill Sports and Enterprise College. It was run by four of their 6th formers and two Braidwood pupils who had completed a boccia official’s course. Teams representing Beaufort, Braidwood, Colebourne and St. Albans took part.
The teams were each allocated a young leader who taught them about the game and led practices to improve the player’s skills.
The second half of the festival was a competition. Braidwood won the senior tournament and a combined Beaufort and Colebourne team won the Primary tournament.
Well done to all those who took part.
