Partnership Volleyball Festival

Four schools with 9 teams took part in the Partnership Volleyball Festival yesterday which was very successfully run by coaches from the University of Birmingham Volleyball Club and St.Alban's Academy Sports Leaders.

The schools all took part in skills practices at the start to get them ready for the matches afterwards. They then split into their teams and played in 2 groups with the top 2 from each group making the semi-finals and the rest playing off for positions.

There were lots of exciting games which ended with Colebourne A & B winning their groups with Tindal A & B claiming 2nd place in each to make the semi-finals as well. Oldknow and Ward End shared the spoils in winning their respective 5th/6th and 7th/8th play-off games.

Both semi-finals were close games but Colebourne A & B both emerged victorious to make it an all Colebourne final. Tindal A & B decided to share 3rd place before Colebourne A narrowly beat their B team to take home the title! Well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to the University coaches and players who put on a demonstration game at the end to give the children an idea of what a senior game of volleyball looks like!

We'd also like to thank St.Alban's Academy's sports leaders who did a great job and King Edward VI High School for Girls for hosting the event and making us very welcome.
