Somerville Primary Canoe Club

Pupils within the Small Heath School Cluster are fortunate enough to be attending Canoeing and Water Safety lessons. The club currently runs out of Small Heath School on Thursday and takes place at Small Heath Leisure Centre at 3:45

Pupils are given the chance to learn basic water safety, including how to rescue people who have fallen in the water. We learn canoeing skills including penguin glides, how to capsize safely, recover an upturned canoe and make fast turns. Teamwork and mutual support is strongly encouraged. Liaison is encouraged between past pupils of Somerville now attending Small Heath School and the current Year 6 at Somerville.
