On Friday 12th Feb, four of St.Alban's Academy's best Sports Leaders attended a TOP Link training festival at Bishop Challoner Catholic College in King's Heath.
Deborah Gakuru, Paige Branch, Iram Ali and Colbert Gerald all in Year 10, took part in the training day which was aimed at helping Sports Leaders learn new ideas for fun, competitive activties that take place at school and how to run a sports festival for younger children.
At the TOP Link festival the students worked with students from across the city and also competed with them for prizes (kit bags with sports equipment in) which were to be given to the most enthusuastic, creative and engaged schools on the day.
The prizes were judged by England International Women's Rugby Player Katie Story who gave a motivational presentation to the students showing them just what they can aspire to.
After a great day taking part in all the activities and challenges put in front of them the St.Alban's students were thrilled when Katie announced them as being the best team of leaders she had seen and spoken to on the day. As a result St.Alban's became the proud new owners of a large bag of brand new sports equipment!
Well done to our four intrepid Sports Leaders and thanks to all those who helped organise the event.
